Owner of Nature Cuts and Spring-Green Lawn Care Valparaiso, IN
Jim Mercon has been involved in the green industry since 1996 when he started his own mowing company. During his career of mowing lawns, he realized that it didn’t make sense to see a competitor’s sign on his customer’s yard that was mowed. There was a growing market in Valparaiso and by adding Spring-Green, he could provide mowing and lawn care services to his customers.

Like many others, Cory Benoit got his start in the green industry mowing lawns as a teenager and started his own maintenance company by the age of 26. He wanted to offer his customers lawn care services, including fertilization along with mowing maintenance, snow removal, and irrigation, which lead to his decision to diversify with Spring-Green.

In 1898, John Sayers began his career in the green industry with general lawn maintenance, mowing, and fertilization. Sayers knew he wanted to expand his business even further, but the lack of marketing was holding him back. That’s when he looked into Spring-Green.

In February 2001 Keith Ives launched Evergreen Exteriors, based in Clinton Township, Michigan, offering landscape, lawn maintenance, lawn care, snow removal, and landscape design services. The company was successful, but Ives knew it could do even more with the right resources. That’s what led him to investigate into Spring-Green Lawn Care. As he learned more about the company and opportunities it brought, he began thinking about adding a franchise to diversify and grow his existing business.
Dan Hillenbrand got his start in the industry while he was in the Army, working weekends with someone who taught him the ins and outs of lawn maintenance. He worked at a few different small lawn maintenance companies, as well as a Colorado-based Scott’s Lawn Service franchise. When TruGreen purchased Scott’s in late 2016, Hillenbrand started to rethink his future with the company. That led to a conversation with Spring-Green.
