Alkaline Soil

Definition:

Alkaline Soil
A soil that contains a pH of 7.0 or higher sometimes referred to as sweet soil. Determining whether a soil is alkaline is based on the concentration of hydrogen (h) ions; the less hydrogen, the more alkaline the soil. Knowing whether your soil is alkaline is crucial to effective yard care, because some plants don't do well in soil that is too alkaline. This type of soil is typically found in dryer climates.
