Leaf Spot

Definition:

Leaf Spot
A phase of a lawn disease in which grass is marked with spots that look like cigarette burns. Leaf spot and melting-out are the common names for a group of grass diseases caused by the same family of fungi. The leaf spot phase happens in the spring and fall and turns into the melting-out phase in the summer. Lawn aeration, as part of annual turf care, can dry out excessive moisture that's causing the problem. Combined with lawn fertilization, core aeration can be a successful lawn care treatment plan.
