Pest Library Ants

Ants are tiny insects that enter your home or business through small cracks, windows, doors and other means of entry—no matter how small. They’re attracted to greasy and sweet food as well as water. It only takes one ant to leave a chemical trail that leads other ants into your home or business.

HABITAT

Ants live in colonies that range from 300,000 – 500,000 ants. Colonies consist of workers and a queen. They can live in your property’s foundation, walls, lawns and tree stumps. Worker ants can live up to seven years, and the queen can live up to 15 years. The most effective ant repellents destroy both the nest and ants.

THE DANGER ANTS POSE TO HUMANS

Some ant species destroy fabrics and wood, while others may contaminate food, other species bite or sting.
